The Extent to Which Reserves and Provisions Were Affected in the Jordanian Financial Sector During the Corona Pandemic (Covid-19)

Abstract

The present study aims to find out the extent to which Provisions and Reserves in the Jordanian financial sector were affected by the Corona pandemic, especially that financial decisions and monetary policies directly affected this sector with the aim of increasing the amount of liquidity and supporting medium and small-sized companies. This is done by studying the changes that occurred in the values of provisions and reserves in the financial sector, where the study is applied to the banking and the insurance companies sectors, and 23 banks and 23 insurance companies were studied. To achieve the objectives of the study, the deductive descriptive analysis method is used to compare the values of provisions and reserves before and after the Corona pandemic, and to measure the level of this change. The study concluded that there was an increase in the value of reserves and provisions in the financial sector during the Corona pandemic.
