The Board of Directors of the Arab Council for Academic Exchange Holds Its First Meeting
The first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Council for Academic Exchange was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Universities Union in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2024. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Arab Universities Union, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Council for Academic Exchange, Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, President of Palestine Ahliya University, the hosting institution of the council. It was attended by the esteemed members of the board physically and via Zoom, including:
- His Excellency Prof. Amjad Barham, the Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education
- Prof. Ghaleb A El-Refae, President of Al Ain University / United Arab Emirates
- Prof. Issa Al-Ansari, President of Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University/ Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Prof. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, President of Anbar University / Republic of Iraq
- Prof. Moez Al-Shafra, President of the University of Tunis El Manar/ Republic of Tunisia
- Prof. Youssef Al-Haik, Deputy Director of the University of Sharjah, representing the University Director
- Prof. Hamid M.K. Al-Naimiy/ United Arab Emirates
- Prof. Alaa Sadek, Vice President of Al-Zarqa University, representing the University President
- Prof. Nidal Al-Ramahi / Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
During the meeting, the agenda was discussed, which addressed important topics aimed at activating the Council’s work and achieving its objectives, as well as enhancing the role of the Board members, whose membership will reflect their expertise and support will significantly impact the council’s goals. Several recommendations were issued during the meeting, which will leave a clear mark on the Council’s work and activation process.
His Excellency the Secretary-General reiterated the Arab Universities Union’s support for all its affiliated institutions, acknowledging the role and efforts of the hosting Arab universities in achieving their goals.
Dr. Imad Al-Zeer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Council for Academic Exchange and the President of Palestine Ahliya University, also emphasized that this council will serve as bridges in the Arab world to enhance the Arab higher education system and create opportunities for exchanging expertise, experiences, academic collaboration, and student exchanges.
This first meeting of the Board of Directors marks the beginning of their term for the next three years, from 2024 to 2027, as decided by the General Conference of Arab Universities Union during its fifty-sixth session held at the University of Baghdad in March 2024.
