ملخص البحث

This paper clarifies the basis of Balfour Declaration (November 2, 1917), a statement of British support for the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine, and explains how it was generally contradictory to both the Sykes-Picot Agreement and Hussein-McMahon correspondence, and how they in turn contradicted one another, and how the British government used it to protect sovereignty over key lands linking Egypt and India, as well as gain Jewish support for the allies, this paper also discusses the negative impact and long-term consequences of the Balfour Declaration and the British mandate on Palestine and the Palestinian people. The British Mandate for Palestine, lasted from 1917 to 1947, was a result of the First World War, and produced severe and long-lasting damage and negative effects for Palestine and the Palestinian people, which they are still suffering from today, to protect its power and interests, the British Empire pledged to promote the creation of a Jewish national home in Palestine. The Zionist Jews and Palestinian Arabs were treated differently under the British rule. The British government ignored and forcibly crushed Palestinians and their movement for self-determination while protecting Zionists by making it easier for them to immigrate, establish institutions, join paramilitary formations, and acquire land. Due to Zionist terror, the majority of Palestinian society was decimated. One-fifth of the remaining 150,000 Palestinians living in Israel were internally displaced, and over 750,000 Palestinians were driven from their country and forced to seek safety in neighboring nations and the diaspora. Palestine, as a country, people, and historical entity, has been the principal sufferer of Europe’s participation in exporting its own problems.
