Below are a set of policies and instructions that aim to regulate the library and  work procedures in line with its mission and objectives. These policies and instructions can be modified to adapt to future changes and developments.

Acquisition and Collection Policy

  • Library holdings are provided by purchase, exchange and gift
  • Information resources are purchased and made available in accordance with the provisions of the Supplies and Procurement Law in force at the University and within the allocation from the annual budget.
  • The Acquisition and Collection department provides lists of publishers and accredited agents and makes them available for faculty members.
  • The faculty members make recommendations from the lists provided for their programs and courses after the approval of the head of their
  • The Procurement Section shall assist in the selection and purchase of materials in compliance with the specified budget.
  • The library provides one copy of each book, although it may purchase more than one copy in cases determined by the head of the department concerned or the library director.
  • The library administration is responsible for participating in the periodicals at the request of head of the department concerned.
  • The library administration is responsible for maintaining electronic databases and providing them at the request of head of the department concerned.

Cataloging and Classification Policy

  • Maintain the Dewey Decimal classification system in the organization of materials and stay up to date on the latest amendments to the system.
  • Use the International Codification of Bibliographic Descriptions and Anglo-American cataloging rules in cataloging tasks.

Library Services Policy

  1. Book borrowing to follow the automated system used in the library.
  2. Borrowing must be done using the ID card issued by the university; this card may only be used by its owner.
  3. Students are allowed to borrow 3 books for one week with one extension possible.
  4. Full-time faculty members are allowed to borrow 5 books for one semester, but in special cases, the library director has the right to increase the number of books borrowed by no more than 10.
  5. Part-time faculty members are allowed to borrow 3 books for up to one semester, but in special cases, the library director has the right to increase the number of borrowed books by no more than 7 titles.
  6. In cases where the user wants to renew borrowed books, they must bring those books to the library in order to update the electronic system.
  7. Books are lent through the automated system but are inspected manually upon return.
  8. The library has the right to recover any book before the expiry of the borrowing period if necessary.
  9. Beneficiaries from outside the university may benefit from the collection inside the library only.
  10.  Clearance is granted after the return of books borrowed from library.
  11.  Those who do not return the books are not allowed to borrow again after paying their financial fine.
  12.  Book reservations are made upon the request of faculty members.
  13.  Books placed on the reservation shelf are borrowed for one day only.
  14.  It is not permissible to borrow references, periodicals, university transcripts, graduation projects and electronic materials except in special cases determined by the library director.
  15. The director of the library has the right to refrain from lending any books or to prevent their use in general within the library.

General Rules

  1. Reading aloud within the library is not allowed.
  2. Keep calm and abide library rules and guidelines.
  3. Preserving the computers that are available in the library and using them for research and study purposes only.
  4. The use of mobile devices in the library is prohibited in addition, visitors are required to put their devices on silent mode in order to keep noise levels down.
  5. Eating, drinking and smoking are strictly forbidden in the library.
  6. Bags and luggage are to be  placed in the appropriate space allocated for them.
